Appearing in the latest episode of Channel 4’s Renovation, the couple were seen kicking down some old plaster to reveal the unique find.

Sarah, who is an architect, had bought the six-bedroom 17th century manor house in Somerset with an eye of renovating it’s crumbing interiors.

She told producers that they wanted to create their dream family home, but were stunned when they discovered just what the house really had to offer.

“You just keep finding these incredible period features and I love all these tiny quirks the house has,” she said.

“It really makes you think about the history hundreds of years ago – what it was like, how did they live?”

In the episode, Sarah exposed one the property’s most notable hidden features which linked  the downstairs bathroom to the other side of the property.

According to historians, the secret tunnel was thought to be an old domestic corridor that had more recently become a storage unit in the home’s library.

But outlining her vision, Sarah told how she wanted to use the space going forward.

She explained that she would wallpaper the doorway to create a “secret entrance.”

They hoped it would eventually lead to a “cool and quirky” secret bar.

Following their progress, the couple were later shown decking out the space with new lighting and fresh wallpaper before revealing their final design.

The “funky and fun” bar area featured trendy cocktail glasses and cocktail-making kits,

The pair hoped that the space could eventually be utilised to host friends and family or small events.

The manor house which cost the couple around £1.2m, boasts six bedrooms, five reception rooms and 12 acres of land.

It is thought it once belonged to wealthy lords and ladies – dating back to the 17th century.

Owners of quirky period homes have never been shy of sharing their most unique finds.
