Vodafone responds to customers

In response to one angry customer online, Vodafone replied with some advice.

A spokesperson said: “Hey there, We’re sorry to hear you’re experiencing problems with the connection of your Broadband.

“We’d recommend visiting our online network checker and selecting the Broadband option to find any known issues.”

A handy broadband speed guide

Knowing what speed you need your broadband to be can be difficult, but having the right speed for you is more important than ever.

With that in mind, here is a handy guide for broadband speeds:

  • 0.5 megabits per second – Required broadband connection speed
  • 1.5 megabits per second – Recommended broadband connection speed
  • 3 megabits per second – Recommended for SD quality
  • 5 megabits per second – Recommended for HD quality
  • 25 megabits per second – Recommended for 4K quality

How can I fix Vodafone network problems?

If you’re struggling to get through to Vodafone, you can try rebooting your network router.

You can do this by switching it off, waiting 30 seconds, and then turning it back on.

Of course, there is no guarantee that this will fix your internet problems.

If you’re an EE customer, here is a guide on what to do if your signal cuts out.

If you’re an O2, GiffGaff, Sky Mobile or Tesco, you should read this guide instead.

And for people concerned about their Virgin Media connection, here is a guide on what to do.

Am I entitled to compensation?

If you’re suffering issues with your internet, call or mobile services then you may be entitled to compensation.

Internet firms usually pay out £8 for each say that broadband and phone service is not repaired after two full days of no service.

If you’re a mobile customer and you suffer from a lack of service then depending on the circumstance you may be entitled to a refund or account credit.

If you’re without service for a sustained period of time then you may have the right to leave without incurring a fee.

If you still want to complain to Vodafone about an issue, you can contact the firm via phone, online or pop by a branch.

What issues are users reporting?

Users are currently reporting issues with their Wi-Fi and mobile connection following the outage.

Around 77% of reported issues are in relation to landline internet whilst 17% of problems are with mobile internet.

How to test your internet speed

Loads of online tools let you test your internet speed.

But arguably the most popular is Speedtest.net by Ookla (a US data firm), which you can find here.

You can also download the app here:

It tests your speeds in a number of ways using local servers, giving you a fairly accurate representation of your real-world download speeds.
