VIRGIN Media went down for mobile and TV customers this afternoon, leaving them unable to make calls and texts or watch telly.
The problem started after midday with around 2,000 users reporting issues on outage tracking website DownDetector at its peak.
Of those who reported issues at the time, 48% struggled with mobile internet, 42% with mobile phones and 9% reported TV problems.
Complaints appeared about Virgin Media internet too, but the telecoms giant told The Sun it was unaware of problems with its broadband.
Virgin Media said there was an issue with its TV and mobile services in Manchester, but says these problems have now been resolved.
Hundreds of customers vented their frustrations with the issues on Twitter.
One customer said on Twitter: “It’d be nice if Virgin Media’s TV service would run for more than a minute before it cuts out.
“Been happening for about 3 hours now.”
While another added: “@virginmedia your broadband service has gone from being about the best to being about the worst.
“What’s gone wrong? #VirginMedia.”
And a third said: “@virginmedia broadband down yet again. Ability to report fault seems to have vanished from website now.
“Not that it ever had any effect anyway. I’ll await my ‘we’re sorry to hear this’ message followed by no action.”
A Virgin Media spokesperson said: “There was an issue earlier today that briefly impacted TV and mobile services for some customers in the Manchester area.
“Broadband services were not affected. This was quickly resolved and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
