Urgent recall of household appliance sold at Tesco, Lidl and Asda over safety fears – check if you’re affected

AN urgent recall has been issued on a common household appliance.

The product recall applies to a vacuum made by household gadget giant Beldray.

The recall has been made due to a manufacturing defect that may cause the back of the DC adaptor to come off.

All Beldray Revo Cordless Vacuums bought since January 2020 could be affected by the problem.

The following products are part of the recall:

• Beldray Revo Pet Plus Cordless Vacuum
• Beldray Handheld Revo New Finish
• Beldray Revo Handheld Cordless Vacuum Cleaner

The manufacturer is recalling the models which have the product code TYBSDC1400500.

If you have one of these toasters Beldray is advising you stop using it and disconnect it from the electricity supply.

The official recall notice states: “We have become aware of a manufacturing defect with a small number of DC Adaptors supplied with the Beldray Revo Cordless Vacuum, Beldray Revo Cordless Pet Plus Vacuum and Beldray Revo Digital Vacuums.”

Customers are being urged to check their vacuum against the photo above and then check the model number.

Customers can also call the service number 08081698571 to speak to a member of the team.

Beldray said: “For a replacement DC adaptor please submit your details on the ‘Product Recall Enquiries’ form and our Customer Service Team will issue a replacement charger as soon as available. I

“f you require any further assistance relating to the product recall, please contact our Customer Service Team.”

Alternatively, if you bought the vacuum from Asda, you can return it to the store you bought it from for a full refund and you won’t need your recepit.

It was also sold at Tesco and Lidl, but they are advising customers to Beldray directly.

Meanwhile, earlier this year Poundland issued an urgent recall on one of its toys over choking fears.

And, a warning was issued to parents after Asda recalled a popular baby item.

What are my rights to a refund?

If you’re returning a recalled product, your rights to get a refund depends on whether the fault makes the product unsafe.

Sometimes the business will repair the product, for example by fitting a new part. But this should be done for you.

If a fault makes a product unsafe to use — and it’s difficult to correct the fault — the Consumer Guarantees Act says you might have the right to reject the product and claim a replacement or a refund.
