Jimmy Webb wrote “Up, Up and Away” in 1965, when he was in college and struggling to make ends meet. Originally a theme for a teen-movie concept, the song was recorded by the 5th Dimension in 1967 for their first album.

“Up, Up and Away” reached No. 7 on the Billboard pop chart in 1967, won six Grammys and was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2003.
