PEOPLE receiving benefits next week could be affected by the Queen’s funeral bank holiday on Monday.
Those receiving Universal Credit, pension credit and more will receive their payment on a different day to usual.

The Government has confirmed payments of benefits due to land in accounts on Monday, September 19 will be made early.
Benefits and credits will be paid on Friday, September 16 – the last working day before the bank holiday.
The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) says it has put arrangements in place to make sure all benefits and credits due are paid on this date.
When will I get my payment?
If your benefit is due to be paid on the day of the state funeral (Monday, September 19), you’ll be paid on Friday, September 16.
Does this only affect those on Universal Credit?
This affects all individuals claiming seven notable benefits including Universal Credit.
Those on the following are set to receive their benefit allowance this week:
- Attendance Allowance
- Carer’s Allowance
- Disability Living Allowance
- Employment and Support Allowance
- Income Support
- Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit
- Jobseeker’s Allowance
- Pension Credit
- Personal Independence Payment
- State Pension
- Universal Credit
- Child Benefit/Guardian’s Allowance
- Working Tax Credits
- Child Tax Credits
Will my payment amount change?
The only thing that changes is when you get paid.

When else will my pay date change?
Bank holiday dates can change every year, so it could affect your payment date in the future, but your money will always land in your account beforehand.
There are two more bank holidays in England, Northern Ireland and Wales and three in Scotland later on this year:
- Wednesday, November 30 – St Andrew’s Day (Scotland only)
- Monday, December 26 – Boxing Day
- Tuesday, December 27 – Christmas Day (substitute day)
