THE 32 most dangerous jobs in the UK have been revealed – and you may be surprised by how much they pay.
A study conducted by Standout CV listed the most daring professions Brits could undertake based upon on an index of mortality, injury and health risks.
Unsurprisingly, the jobs that came out on top included positions in the emergency services.
Being a paramedic came out as the most dangerous job on the list – with a danger score of 19.31 out of 35.
Despite the death rate of key workers being very low, the role sees patients put themselves at risk of various diseases, that could compromise their immune system, the study says.
Paramedics also score highly for mental health risks.
This all comes despite having an average annual salary of 32,341, roughly £6,000 lower than the average UK salary recorded by the ONS last year.
Being a firefighter came in second with a job danger score of 16.57 out of 35.
Aside from the obvious risks of fire and collapsing buildings, they are at risk of hearing problems due to loud noises, the study says.

They add: “Other study reports the occupation has a higher risk of asthma, and one piece of research found that 60.2% of fire service staff had mental health problems, with ‘traumatic or distressing events’ being the second biggest contributing factor to this.”
Making up the top three most dangerous jobs in the UK are oil rig workers which scored 15.06 in the study’s danger score index.
According to the National Careers Service, these employees work an average of 54 hours a week, the highest average working week out of any job in this analysis, with a median average salary of £40,000.
But again, oil rig workers at risk with one of the study’s highest injury rates at 6.02%.
A 2021 UN study found that oil workers had an increased risk of various cancers, with higher mental health risks as a consequence of severe stress and isolation working on remote platforms.
Meanwhile, when it comes to fatalities in the civilian sector, tanker and LGV drivers are most at risk.
An average of 54 drivers die during their working activities each year, the study says.
However, amid a national shortage, some lorry drivers were being offered up to £70,000-a-year in order to take up delivery roles for major UK supermarkets last year.
It also reportedly comes with a high rating when it comes to job satisfaction.
A full list of the UK’s best jobs were released earlier this year.
