UK’s cheapest house up for sale for a grand total of £0 – but you’ll have to get inside it first

THE UK’s ‘cheapest house’ is on the market from an unbelievable £0 – but it may be difficult to find the front door.

Homebuyers may be excited to find the Welsh property on sale in the village of Dyffryn Cellwen in the Upper Dulais Valley, for such an astonishing price.

The 6,156 sq ft home is located on the outskirts of the beautiful Bannau Brycheiniog national park, with convenient access to the A4109 leading to Swansea.

However prospective buyers will have to go “in with their eyes wide open” as the house is definitely considered a ‘fixer upper’, completely overgrown with brambles and foliage.

Auctioneers themselves had to battle branches and cut through bushes to uncover the front door – but they stopped there.

Inside, the “unsafe ” property is crumbling and inhabitable, with no one able to actually walk through the property.

Sean Roper, of the house’s Newport-based auctioneer Paul Fosh Auctions, told WalesOnline: “The guide price of £nil is also making many prospective buyers stop and take a good look at the particulars and exactly what is on offer in this otherwise barely visible lot.

“Viewing has proved to be a challenge as we have had to cut a path through overgrown brambles, bushes and bracken, just to reach the derelict bungalow which is in a dilapidated and unsafe condition.

“We’ve not been inside and wouldn’t advise prospective buyers to do so due to the dangerous condition of the building.”

Mr Roper added that the final bid will depend on what buyers are prepared to put down – but with the state of the house it could “be just a few pounds”.

Bidding will begin at midday on Tuesday, March 5 and run until 5pm on Thursday, March 7. 

Sean added: “This is a marvellous opportunity to acquire a derelict bungalow on a plot which measures some 572 sqm (6156 sq ft).

“The fact that the place has a guide price of £nil and may well be bought for a matter of a few pounds simply adds to the attraction.”

It comes as one couple ‘got carried away’ after buying a home from Facebook Marketplace – and said they ‘should have thought twice’.

Chris and Becky revealed the stress they faced when they moved into their rundown house in Wales.

Elsewhere in the UK, an ordinary three-bedroom flat went on the market for £115,000 – but inside it’s like “stepping into Narnia”.

Meanwhile, a man who brought a crumbling castle that was once fit for a king revealed how he bagged a royal’s paradise for just £1.

Martin Higgins, 60, from Brockham in Surrey, bought Betchworth Castle for cheap after the local council refused to restore it.

Plus, another homebuyer who hit “rock bottom” bought a “crumbling pile of bricks” for just £1 and turned it into her dream home.

Maxine Sharples snapped up the home in Merseyside infested with rats, rotten windows and sporting holes in the roof before transforming it.
