Joe Biden has held a hastily arranged call with other Nato and EU leaders as the US warned that a Russian invasion of Ukraine could come before the end of the Winter Olympics on 20 February.
Biden’s call to allies followed a situation room meeting at the White House to discuss the latest intelligence on the Russian military buildup, which, according to diplomats, has raised the level of alarm within the Biden administration.
