Rate remains unchanged in September amid pressure on Britons from cost of living crisis

UK inflation unexpectedly held steady in September at 6.7% as hard-pressed households came under pressure from soaring fuel prices.

The Office for National Statistics said the annual inflation rate as measured by the consumer prices index remained unchanged from August’s reading, halting months of progress towards easing the pressure on households.
