Home secretary to enforce Rwanda plan and end ‘abuse’ of Modern Slavery Act, putting pledge to boost worker numbers in doubt

The UK has too many low-skilled migrant workers and high numbers of international students who often bring dependants, the home secretary, Suella Braverman, has said, in comments that raise questions over Liz Truss’s plans to increase the numbers of employees allowed into the UK.

In an interview with the Sun On Sunday, Braverman also promised to enforce Boris Johnson’s plans to deport asylum seekers to Rwanda and reform modern slavery laws to make it easier to remove claimants from the UK.
