Natwest boss Dame Alison Rose will appear before MPs in Parliament next Tuesday In a humiliating U-turn.

Rose, 54, will give evidence to the Treasury Select Committee, just 24 hours after saying she was too busy, having been accused of ‘skirting scrutiny’.

Committee member Dame Angela Eagle said it was ‘an insult’ to Parliament and the public for Rose, whose bank is backed by the taxpayer, not to attend.

NatWest said there were ‘further discussions’ with the committee and Rose would show up.

Eagle said yesterday: ‘I am glad she has belatedly realised the importance of the committee and look forward to her appearance.’
