A TWO-STOREY home with acres of land has hit the market for just £80,000 – but there’s a very good reason for the low price.

The semi-detached property in stunning Sanday, Orkney, sits on a whopping 4.5 acre plot moments from tranquil Bea Loch.

It offers spectacular near-isolation, but boasts a country pub just over a mile from the front door.

However, those ready to put in an offer and begin living an idyllic life of bucolic bliss may want to take a close look at the listing first.

And only those with above-average DIY skills should contact the estate agent.

That’s because the building is currently little more than an empty stone edifice, with nothing homely inside.

Gorgeous home is perfect for all the family - but wait until you see the outside

Even from the street outside, the scale of work needed is obvious.

Guttering is peeling away from the roof, while green mould reaches up the walls.

The drive outside is littered with plywood, wooden planks and other debris.

Inside, there are no dividing walls on the ground floor at all, and the house appears to have been used as a storage shed.

Ceilings have been torn apart – or perhaps never built – and the interior walls are stained with water and damp.

The situation is much the same on the first floor, which is just one long room filled with ladders and wooden beams.

However, ambitious buyers with both time and plenty of spare cash on their hands will find much to dream of.

As well as the house, the owner will find two adjoining stores, a stable and the huge grounds.

Lows Solicitors, which is marketing the property, admitted the home requires “extensive modernisation”.

However, they said it’s an “excellent opportunity to create a dwelling to the purchaser’s own specification”, subject to planning permission.

Sanday is home to otters and seals, as well as lapwings, curlews and oystercatchers.

The island boasts scores of stunning, unspoiled beaches, many with sand dunes and secret caves.

It’s also an archaeology hotspot, with numerous sites of interests including cairns, brochs and burial mounds.

The Scottish home is not the only cheap house currently on the market that will need a bit of elbow grease to make it look its best.

A home with a huge garden in Spalding, Lincolnshire has gone on the market for just £10,000 – but there’s a huge catch.

The property offers two reception rooms, a kitchen and three “well-proportioned” rooms.

But it will need a complete renovation by an experienced builder before a family can make it their own again.

That’s because it was gutted by a terrible fire just four months ago.

And a one-bed flat in south London will go under the hammer for £150,000, but it’s in terrible state both inside and out.

Walls have been stripped, while carpets have been torn up. The garden is completely overgrown, with vines left untended for so long they reach into an indoor bathroom.
