Boat’s skipper Michael Lawrence and company owner Michael Howley avoid jail after crash killed teenager

Speedboat skipper Michael Lawrence and the company owner Michael Howley have been given 18-week prison sentences suspended for two years in connection with the death of 15-year-old Emily Lewis.

The teenager sustained fatal injuries after the rigid inflatable boat (rib) collided with a 4.5-metre-high buoy at 36.6 knots in Southampton Water on 22 August 2020, with a number of other passengers seriously injured.
