A TOPPING TREAT: Opt for a family film night, complete with pizzas and chocolate. Make it a Tuesday night and you can get two for one on large or medium Domino’s pizzas.

Sainsbury’s also has Pizza Express favourites down from £5.50 to £2.75. Top it off with Haagen-Dazs Mini Cups Caramel Collection, now £3 for four at Sainsbury’s, saving £2.

TAKE A BOW: Knock the kids’ socks off with a trip to the theatre in London’s West End. There are still a smattering of seats available for the end of Kids’ Theatre Week, which runs through August.

Seats for the Horrible Histories Terrible Tudors show start at £10.50. For £23.50, a fraction of the normal price, you can see hit show Wicked. Visit officiallondontheatre.com/kids-week.

MAKE A MEAL OF IT: Many restaurants and supermarket cafes are giving families a helping hand this summer with money off meals.

For a real treat, restaurant chain Bill’s is letting kids eat free Monday to Friday when an adult with them pays for a main course.

In M&S cafes, youngsters qualify for a free meal when you spend at least £5. At the weekend, kids can enjoy a free meal on Sundays when dining with an adult at The Real Greek, which has outlets across the country.

EARLY LEARNING: Get brains back in gear for the start of term by going on a family trip to a brilliant museum.
