TK MAXX has launched its Christmas advert, and this year’s offering features ‘Lil’ Goat’ in a designer outfit.
The advert opens with a typical, Christmassy, glistening snowy landscape and makes reference to the coronavirus pandemic.
Immediately viewers are greeted by the goat, who serves up some serious attitude, frolicking in a brand new designer outfit.
The camera then pans to a nearby farmhouse, where we learn that the brand new threads were actually a Christmas present.
Farmers’ wife Susan looks confused and asks the farmer Gary, “Did you buy the goat a designer outfit?”
Gary looks on tenderly with a tear in his eye and replies, “Yes, she’s had such a hard year. She bloomin’ well deserves it if you ask me.”
It ends with more shots of the dancing goat and also a reminder of TK Maxx’ Christmas slogan: Delivering Big love at Small Prices.
The advert will air on TV in the UK on the Wednesday November 4 – but you can watch it in full on Youtube now.
The UK ad is narrated by British actor Bill Nighy, who has been the voice of the TK Maxx brand for the past four years.
The track is The Game Remix by Gabriel Garzon Montano, feat. Junglepussy, Seb remix.
It will air in six European countries, but there will be different narrators in other markets.
The retailer says that the ad is supposed to promote the message that after the year we’ve had, everyone deserves to feel special this Christmas.
Deborah Dolce, group brand & marketing director at TK Maxx comments:
“We wanted to recognise the difficult year that we’ve all had and at the same time offer a bit of joyful optimism.
“We have hundreds of local stores across the country, plus TKMaxx.com, and we are placing a great emphasis on two simple things this Christmas, safety for our shoppers and staff plus an amazing selection of unique gifts at really affordable prices. “
