IT’S the holiday season and that means that many of us will be getting presents, and if we’re lucky, some of the latest consoles.
But setting them up isn’t all that easy, and you’ll likely want to set them before Christmas in order to play your new games on the day.

How to install the stand on your PS5
The stand can be difficult to figure out, but it’s vital to ensure your console doesn’t get knocked over and broken.
To attach the stand, swivel the top part until a screw is revealed in a secret compartment on the bottom.
Take out the small, black disc on the bottom of the console, then slide the stand onto the back of the console, so the thick bit pokes out the back.
Then all you have to do is use the screw to secure it in place, and your PS5 is accident ready.
Get more storage on your PS5
The PS5 comes with sizable storage, but it won’t last long with how large game files can be these days.
If you have a portable USB SSD, this is the easiest way to give your console extra storage, and a fast cable will allow you to run PS4 games straight from the storage.

This is the easiest solution if you have a large backlog of games you want to play.
HDMI cables and displays for PS5
The PS5 has a number of features which can only be used on newer TVs and monitors that support HDMI 2.1.
If you have fancy TV like this, make sure you also get an HDMI 2.1 cable and that it is plugged into the correct port.
This will give you all the shiny features you are looking for and the best visuals possible.
You’ll then want to go into the settings and enable 120hz which will let you play games at 120 frames per second.
Turning on VRR will also allow games to look better at these faster frame rates.
Setting up the DualSense on the PS5
The new DualSense controller comes with haptic feedback and adaptive triggers which give a more realistic feel, but can affect how you play.
If you are into shooters, pulling harder on the triggers will make your shots slower.
But don’t worry you can change all of these in the settings, including reducing the effect or disabling it entirely, if you want to up your game.
The DualSense controller also comes with a built-in microphone so you can play in groups right away.
If someone is complaining about your mic quality, you can double-tap the PS button to go straight to your party settings.
Another neat controller trick is that you can use the triangle button to automatically go to the search bar on any page.
View in-game guides at any time on PS5
The majority of games on PS5 have in-game guides built into the menus.
Tap the PS button to see a series of videos with tips to help you clear stages, find items, and clean up your last trophies.
This feature has been here from the start, but somehow players have managed to miss it.
