Three underused iPhone settings that could save you money instantly

YOUR iPhone is full of clever settings and some can even help save you money.

These include using less power and even ways to cut down on data you use – who knows, you might be able to downgrade your data plan?

Low data mode

Apps like Facebook and WhatsApp are constantly updating in the background.

This easily sucks up data when you may not realise it.

Fortunately, Apple has a low data mode.

When switched on, it’ll limited background network usage, which is especially useful if you have a small amount of data and don’t want to be hit by extra charges.

To do it, go to Settings, then Mobile Data.

Tap on Mobile Data Options, followed by Data Mode.

Here you can turn on Low Data Mode.

Low power mode

Low power mode saves battery life, which means less charging and less electricity used.

It will reduce things like your iPhone’s brightness and some visual effects.

To activate it, simply go to Settings, then Battery.

Switch on Low Power Mode.

Roaming

When abroad, make sure your roaming settings are properly setup to avoid huge charges.

Charges can vary widely from country to country – and remember, most networks don’t allow free roaming across EU countries anymore either, except for O2 and Virgin Media.

So before you go, check what your network offers.

Some have special price one-time bundles you can purchase which work out cheaper than on the day data usage.

Another cheap option is just to rely on WiFi.

If you’re not sure or don’t want to use your data, go to Settings then Mobile Data.

Select Mobile Data Options and turn Data Roaming off.
