FATHER’S Day is just around the corner and Aldi has some great deals for your dad.
Whether you are thinking of cooking him a meal or buying him something practical the bargain retailer has got you covered.
This year Father’s Day lands on Sunday, June 18.
And with many people being extra conscious about what they are spending, sometimes these celebrations can be a little stressful.
There are lots of discount retailers offering some bargain buys for dad at the moment which means that you don’t have to spend a fortune on a gift.
We had a look at what Aldi has on offer and what products were worth buying from the retailer, and which ones you should leave on the shelf.
But remember we only give suggestions, it is best to shop around yourself to make sure you are getting the best deal.
When shopping in Aldi also take into consideration that new specialbuys are launched every Thursday and Sunday online and in-store so this is a good time to grab a deal.
Here are three things you should buy at Aldi and two to avoid.
What to buy
Alcohol
Aldi has a Father’s Day section on their website that makes it easy to choose your dad’s favourite tipple.

The categories are sorted into gin, whisky, red wine and white wine.
As most Aldi shoppers will know they have a good reputation for booze, not only for quality but also for its competitive pricing.
As well as branded spirits, the retailer also has its own label such as Greysons Gin.
A 70cl of Greyson’s London Dry Gin is £10.89, compared to Gordons Gin which is priced in Sainsbury’s at £16.50.
If your dad likes beer you are in even better luck, you can pick up a pack of 10 Brasserie Biere imported premium lager for under a fiver.
The pack of ten 250ml beers costs just £3.59.
Steak
If you fancy cooking your dad a special Father’s Day lunch, there is a variety of steaks available with everything from The Godfather Rump Steak, 794g, at £9.99 to a smaller Wagyu Sirloin Steak, 227g, at £6.99.
The Aldi website also gives tips on how to add extra flavour while cooking your steak and recommends cooking times depending on whether your dad likes it rare, medium-rare, or well done.
They also have a range of sides and sauces, with beef dripping chips priced at £2.39 and four seasons onion rings at £1.59.
Camping equipment
If your dad is a bit of an adventurer Aldi has a good range of camping equipment and accessories online.
Depending on your budget they have everything from light-up water bottles for £12.99 to camping chairs for £16.99.
You can even get your dad a 4-man dome tent for £29.99, or a new set of camping cookware for £16.99.
We checked other retailers and also found that Decathlon is quite competitive, they have a camping chair for £14.99, so it is worth shopping around.
However, we could not find a cheaper dome tent. The closest we found price-wise was £49.99 on Amazon.
What not to buy
DIY gadgets
Surprisingly when it comes to DIY gadgets Aldi does not have a huge range.
At the moment online they have a Ferrex 20V cordless combi drill with 15% off priced at £16.99.
And while we could not find another competitor selling one for that price, there were other similar models costing more but with more features.
Amazon is currently offering a 21V cordless drill, priced at £21.69, but it does have more attachments and features than the Aldi version.
It all depends on what you want is the best option for you, remember it is only a good deal if it is something you are going to use.
Tools
When it comes to tools and DIY, at the moment Aldi does not have a great deal of choice and this is why we suggest that it might be better to shop around at a specialist retailer or hardware store for these kinds of items, such as B&Q.
Usually, when a retailer carries a larger range of products you stand a better chance of being able to make the right decision for your pocket and the item that you are shopping for.
They do have a 25-piece toolset currently retailing at £22.99, but we spotted other toolsets available from £8.28 on Amazon.
We also checked out other discount retailers and had a look at their best finds for Father’s Day.
B&M also has some great bargains for your dad, but also there are some things that should be avoided.
