Three suffered similar technical problems in October last year.

The mobile network was forced to apologise to customers following a seven-hour outage that left users across the UK unable to make or receive calls.

It did not reveal the cause of the problem.

Three’s technical difficulties at the end of last year followed global outages for social media giants Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Snapchat around the same time.

In October 2021, Facebook-owned apps crashed for almost seven hours during a massive worldwide crash.

Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger went down after a faulty update disconnected Facebook’s servers from the internet and brought all of its services to a halt.
