THREE has unveiled a new mobile phone tariff which could save millions of customers over £200 a year.
The provider has today launched its social tariff under sub-brand SMARTY for £12 a month.

It comes with unlimited data, calls and texts and a one-month rolling contract, so you can cancel without paying an early exit fee.
Plus, you don’t have to pass a credit check to get the tariff.
However, you have to be receiving certain benefits if you want to sign up. This includes:
Three Mobile estimates around 4.2 million households in the UK could switch to the new tariff.
Elaine Carey, chief commercial officer for Three, said: “With the cost-of-living crisis continuing to put financial pressure on many of our customers, Three is committed to playing its part in the solution.
“More than ever, people are in need of support and that should include access to affordable connectivity without restrictions.
“I am delighted that we are launching this tariff today, offering low-cost access to our network for the customers who need it most.”

It comes after Sun Money called on the government, regulator Ofcom and suppliers to do more to support struggling customers.

What are social tariffs?
Many mobile phone and broadband providers offer so-called “social tariffs”.
They are available to customers on Universal Credit and other benefits and usually cost less than standard tariffs.
Ofcom, the government regulator for social tariffs, has a list on its website of all the providers that offer them.
Some providers offer the tariffs on both broadband and mobile contracts while others for just mobile or broadband.
How does SMARTY’s tariff compare to others?
We checked out Three’s standard mobile contracts to see how much the £12 social tariff could save you.
Its Unlimited Standard SIMO one-month plan comes with unlimited data, 5G access and unlimited calls and texts, costing £30 a month.
That’s £360 over the course of a year.
In comparison, the social tariff at £12 a month would cost you £144 a year. That’s a £216 difference.
