Here are some ideas to create a great look from existing clothes . . .

WORLD SPOOK DAY: If you have a Halloween outfit lurking at the back of the wardrobe, haul it out for a second lease of life.

A witch can be from Room On The Broom, a skeleton from Funnybones and a spider from Charlotte’s Web.

PROP-ER GOOD: Outfits can often be fashioned from existing clothing with a couple of easy props.

Try blue denim dungarees with a white T-shirt plus little torch, and you’re from Tom Fletcher’s The Creakers.

Or a pair of black shorts, white T-shirt and black backpack can be the basis of an outfit from Diary Of A Wimpy Kid.

You could then use some black and white face paint.

An all-blue outfit can be turned into Mr Men’s Mr Bump by adding some bandages around the head and tummy.

A pair of black dungarees and red striped top works for Tracy Beaker.

And a pair of checked or striped pyjamas can be used for David Walliams’ book The Midnight Gang.

Got a tutu? Add a pink top and you have Angelina Ballerina.

Draw whiskers and give your child a pink nose as a finishing touch.

GREAT ADAPTATIONS: If you do not mind sacrificing some old clothing, stick fake money on to a white T-shirt and add grey trousers for a Billionaire Boy look.

Or draw a giant playing card on a large white T-shirt and match with black leggings for a playing card solider from Alice In Wonderland.

Don’t want to be a specific character? Be a dictionary.

Write “Oxford English Dictionary” on the front of a white T-shirt, then in smaller writing add rows of other words.
