MANY people have given up on baths, taking money-saving showers instead.

A third of us are picking the cheaper option when freshening up, according to a study by comparison site Uswitch.

But there are plenty of other ways to stop cash going down the plughole.

From cutting showers time to swapping shampoo, try these ideas.

SING TO SAVE: Experts recommend aiming for a four-minute shower to cut water costs and heating.

To help you hit the time limit, Yorkshire Water has compiled a Spotify playlist of four-minute songs.

So, whether you like Bon Jovi’s Livin’ On A Prayer or prefer Reach by S Club 7, there is a tune a day for short showers to last more than two months.

Find a link to the list at yorkshirewater.com/your-water/save-water.

SWITCH SETTINGS: Modern showers often come with massage or rainfall settings, designed to give a more luxurious experience — but the higher water bill may put a dampener on your fun.

Instead, use the eco-friendly or water-saving mode on your shower for everyday washing.

A spokesperson for bathroom specialists Plumbworld said: “This mode is specifically designed to reduce water flow without sacrificing the quality of your shower experience.

“By not utilising these water-saving features, users miss out on an easy opportunity to reduce water consumption and save on bills.”

We were sick of being trapped by our £2.7K rent each month so bought a boat to live on instead – we can’t shower but it saves us £500 a month

SOAP SWAPS: Switching from a bottle of shower gel to a solid soap bar can save you a packet.

The bar is a great eco alternative to a plastic bottle and it will also last you much longer.

You can also swap your shampoos for bars.

Boots currently has a third off Faith In Nature products, with the coconut soap bar down from £2.75 to £1.83 and the lavender and geranium shampoo bar from £5.79 to £3.86.

Save more cash by switching off the shower when lathering.
