IPHONE owners will be able to carry a digital version of their driving licence as part of new features set to land later this year.

The massive update is the dream for drivers who’ll no longer need to remember their plastic card – though not everyone will be able to enjoy it right away.

Selected US states are being put in the fast lane, including Arizona and Georgia.

Brits will be in for a wait, as the UK Government only announced late last year it would do a digital trial.

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency plans to launch an app for learner drivers first – meaning they will be able to flash their provisional licenses with the touch of a button – before considering a full roll out across the UK.

For now, Arizona and Georgia will be first on the list, followed by Connecticut, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Oklahoma, and Utah.

From “early 2022” people will not only be able to add their driving licence but also their state ID.

And given that Colorado, Delaware, Florida, and Louisiana already have their own digital apps, it’s likely they’ll follow soon after.

Licences will be added to Apple’s Wallet feature, which the company says will be made secure by providing the driver’s state with photo verification.

Another major feature set to arrive on iPhone soon is the ability to receive payment from others using contactless.

While we’ve got used to the idea of using Apple Pay to make purchases, the new update will give us the ability to send money the other direction.

However, the feature is geared towards small business owners, not for paying back a mate.

Finally, Apple is getting in tune with its classical side, with plans to launch a classical music app later this year.

It comes after the firm bought out classical streaming giant Primephonic.

In other news, Apple has revealed a bunch of new emoji for iPhone, including a pregnant man and two saucy symbols.

Experts have warned that future space launches could be jeopardised if “stupid” regimes like Russia don’t stop blasting the skies creating debris.

And the most popular phone since the millennium has been unveiled, with many shocked to find out it’s not an iPhone.
