SANTA CLAUS is coming to town, but booking a visit to see Father Christmas can come at a cost.
No child should miss out on such a special treat, and luckily the festive elves tell me there are places where youngsters can see him for less.
Here are some of the locations where Santa is spreading low-cost Christmas cheer.
TOP OF THE SHOPS: In the capital, at Westfield London and Westfield Stratford City, the Meet Santa experience is free. From December 10 to 24, families can visit Father Christmas in his grotto, take a family picture and receive a small gift, with no need to pre-book.
The McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Swindon has its own free Santa School, with suggested £5 donations going to the centre’s Charity Of The Year, Prospect Hospice. Book at mcarthurglen.com/en/outlets/uk.
There are other free grottos in shopping centres around the country including The Mall in Luton and Banbury’s Castle Quay shopping centre, where charity donations are welcome.
COUNCIL CHRISTMAS: Instead of cancelling Christmas due to tight budgets, many local authorities are sprinkling the magic for families.
As part of Leicester’s Christmas Cracker celebrations, children can visit Santa for free in his grotto in the city’s Town Hall Square until December 23. Find out more at christmasinleicester.co.uk.
Santa is also set to make a special appearance on certain dates at Doncaster’s Frost Festival. Find out more at visitdoncaster.com/whats-on.
Check out your local council’s events page to see if there is something similar where you live.
BREAKFAST WITH THE BIG MAN: Kids can enjoy Breakfast With Santa at 108 Brewers Fayre pubs across the country every weekend until Christmas, and every day from December 19-24.
