SHOPPERS know they can always bag a bargain at Poundland – but now you can pick up goodies for just 1p.

Poundland this week revealed it was cutting prices on thousands of items, and on one particular day of the week it will be selling products for just a penny.

The new range is known as Value Heroes – a scheme to help customers suffering from the effects of inflation.

Shoppers will now see some kitchen and homeware stock reduced to just 1p every Wednesday.

You’ll be able to find reduced items online too.

Just be mindful of delivery costs when you shop online – it might add £5-£10 extra to your shop depending on where you live.

Poundland has also announced it will open or relocate 25 stores by the end of the year.

By the end of September, the bargain retail chain plans to have at least 10 more stores open.

Commercial director, Tim Bettley, said: “We’re acutely aware how important value-for-money is right now for our customers – and that’s why whether it’s across grocery, clothing or homewares,
we’re doubling down on our promise of amazing value.”

The sale was also a welcome change to many bargain hunters, with one fan joking on social media: “Is Poundland going to become a cheap store again??”

The announcement comes shortly after the firm was criticised by customers for selling goods above the £1 price point.

Shoppers said they were spotting more items with a £1.25 price tag.

Poundland started to vary its pricing back in 2019, with products ranging from 50p up to £5.

Although the store is now making amends to restore its classic £1 widespread price tag, you could still come across a few items that are more expensive.

The firm currently has over 800 stores open in the UK, but here are some of the ones opening or relocating within the next month:

  • Sutton Coldfield (Poundland Local)
  • Canterbury, Marshwood Close Retail Park
  • Sheffield, Meadowhall Retail Park
  • Milton Keynes, Westcroft Retail Park (relocation)
  • Aberdeen, Trinity Shopping Centre (relocation)
  • Inverness, Telford Street Retail Park
  • Broadstairs High Street
