I sat on a cheap gaming chair for years and, as someone who works in front of a computer all day, it was a big mistake. My back hurt often, and those foam chairs trap so much heat that … well, you know. Sweat. In 2020, I waded into the world of office chairs and bought a Herman Miller Embody—going from a crappy chair to an icon was life-changing. Ever since, I’ve been testing more affordable options so that no one else suffers from the same kind of back pain. And a few X-Chairs. Good news! Amazon has some great Prime Day office chair deals right now on some of our favorites.

The Branch Verve is the Runner-Up recommendation in my Best Office Chairs guide only because it’s pricey, but this is the biggest discount I’ve ever tracked on this chair. It does a great job of keeping my back straight, the seat is comfy, and the mesh backrest pulls away body heat so you stay cool. It also looks gorgeous and comes in many colors (though prices vary depending on the color).

The Verve is quite adjustable—you can extend the seat forward, lock the recline, and tweak the lumbar support. The armrests are the only part I don’t like as much. You can only move them up or down. Still, if you have the budget and are in need of a new office chair, the Verve will not disappoint you.

This is my top office chair recommendation because every part of it is adjustable—this lets you shape the chair to your body’s preferences. The Branch Ergonomic Chair even has armrests that can move back and forward or up and down, and Branch has a headrest add-on in case you want it. It won’t keep your back as upright as the Verve, and we have noticed some pilling on the seat fabric after more than a year of use, but it’s really hard to find as good an office chair for this price.

Got the budget to splurge? The Gesture is an iconic office chair and is well regarded as one of the best you can buy. The fabric quality doesn’t hold up as well as my Herman Miller Embody, which I still prefer overall, but the Gesture is a comfortable seat with a wide range of adjustments. You get a whopping 12-year warranty, too. The price fluctuates a lot but it hasn’t been this low in some time.

If you often find yourself feeling squished in a chair, then try the Hon Ignition 2.0 Big and Tall. I am 6’4″ and found the seat to be comfortably spacious. Its steel frame can support up to 450 pounds, and I had no issues sitting on this for several months. I just wish it looked more interesting and came in a fun color. The arms tend to splay out when you put some pressure on them, too.

This is still a crazy amount of money to spend on a chair, especially one that’s not from an institution like Herman Miller or Steelcase, but I kid you not, the Brisa Soft Touch seat is one of the most luxurious materials my body has ever touched. When my friend sat on it, his mouth just opened up in awe. It’s not as heat-wicking as other all-mesh X-Chairs (which are also on sale), but it’s adjustable and comfy. I suggest sticking with the standard armrests instead of the FS 360 armrests, which move around too much.
