HOW sustainable and cruelty-free is your make-up bag?

A recent survey found that millions of shoppers never check if their beauty products are ethical because they find it “too difficult”.

Buying ethical beauty products doesn’t need to be a chore or cost the earth

But it doesn’t need to be a chore or cost the earth.

Here are a few of my favourite thrifty finds . . .

PUKER UP: High-street chain Superdrug is full of vegan cosmetics that can also earn points for your Health & Beauty card.

The MUA satin lipsticks are only £2.50 and come in loads of colours — and there are often extra offers in store on top.

BEST SHAM GLAM: Shampoo and conditioner bars have been around for a few years and promise to cut down on plastic waste as well as offering more washes for your money.

But while they had previously been more of a niche product, Morrisons has launched its own version as part of its Nutmeg range.

The bars cost just £3 and can last up to 30 washes, making them five times cheaper than some other branded options available, for example the £12.99 ones at Holland & Barrett.

SAVING: £9.99

SHADE BRIGADE: When it comes to finding a foundation, sourcing the right shade can be a task in itself — before factoring in an ethical option, too.

Thankfully, I recently discovered Elf’s Flawless Finish foundation, £9 at elfcosmetics.co.uk.

There’s a lovely range of shades in the vegan product and the formula naturally blends into skin and keeps it hydrated — perfect for summer.

Plus, many beauty buffs rate it as a suitable swap for the pricier Nars’ all-day luminous weightless foundation, £35.

SAVING: £26

FACE TIME: Using disposable wipes or cotton pads to cleanse your face is not environmentally friendly.

Going reusable saves money in the long run, too.

I’m loving the So Eco range.

The facial cleansing kit is perfect for taking the day off and includes two make-up remover pads and two make-up remover cloths in a washable bag.

Snap it up for £9.60 at lookfantastic.com, usually £12.
