THE end of another school term is around the corner – and I’m sure it’s not just the kids who can’t wait for a break.
This year, more than ever, I think our hard-working teachers deserve a little gift to show our appreciation.
Here are a few thoughtful ideas that will spread some Christmas cheer without breaking the bank.
POTS OF JOY: If you are only after a festive token gift, why not give a poinsettia?
The cheap and cheerful Christmas favourites are in-store at Lidl for £1.99 — that’s far cheaper than those sold at M&S for £26. They are sure to brighten any teacher’s desk.
NICE SUPPLIES: A handy prezzie that teachers will thank you for is a stocking of school supplies. Why not brighten up their desk with brightly coloured sticky notes, £5.79 for 1,000 sheets in ten pads at Amazon?
These work out far cheaper than branded coloured Post-Its, which cost £12.59 for a smaller pack of six pads of 90 at viking-direct.co.uk.
You can also currently buy a pack of three metallic Sharpie pens for £2, down from £4, at Wilko.
SHORT CUT: If you fancy DIY-ing your gift, homemade shortbread is perfect, and easy to make. Simply whip up a batch with sugar, butter and plain four. Cut into squares and wrap in cellophane with a nice ribbon.
For a little something extra, you can also pair it up with a small, 187ml bottle of wine for just £1.15 at B&M.
FULL OF BEANS: Teachers will likely need a strong cup of coffee (or two) to get through the day. Currently you can buy a tin of Whittard Festive Coffee for £8.40, down from £12. That’s enough for 13 cups.
If you want to make it a little more personal, buy a plain white mug and get your children to decorate it with permanent pens to create the perfect, personal addition.
