Tesla has delivered the first of its futuristic Cybertrucks to a select number of customers.
It marks the release of the electric car maker’s first new vehicle since the Model Y more than three years ago.
The Cybertruck, which is made out of a stainless steel alloy, puts Tesla in competition with electric vehicle rivals Rivian and Ford.
The deliveries were made at an event in Austin which the company live-streamed.
The cheapest Cybertruck costs £50,000 while a fully loaded model, described as the ‘Cyberbeast’, is listed for £80,000, up considerably from the £32,000 price tag chief executive Elon Musk first announced in 2019.

Musk warned last month it would take time for Tesla to make money on the vehicle.
The production of the Cybertruck has been plagued with issues including pandemic-related supply chain slowdowns.
Jessica Caldwell, analyst at online car industry experts Edmunds, said the launch was a ‘true test’ for Tesla.
