TESCO is recalling packets of its own Finest brand of Taleggio after listeria was found in the Italian cheese.
Listeria was found in 200g packs of Tesco Finest Taleggio with a use by date of January 25 2021.

Listeria can make you break out in symptoms similar to flu, meaning you could have a high temperature, muscle ache or pain, chills, feeling or being sick, and diarrhoea.
You’re more likely to get listeria infections if you’re over 65, pregnant, or have a weak immune system.
Unborn babies and babies less than a month old are also more vulnerable to getting sick from it too.
If you have bought the product, do not eat it.

Your product recall rights
PRODUCT recalls are an important means of protecting consumers from dangerous goods.
As a general rule, if a recall involves a branded product, the manufacturer would usually have lead responsibility for the recall action.
But it’s often left up to supermarkets to notify customers when products could put them at risk.
If you are concerned about the safety of a product you own, always check the manufacturer’s website to see if a safety notice has been issued.
When it comes to appliances, rather than just food items, the onus is usually on you – the customer – to register the appliance with the manufacturer as if you don’t there is no way of contacting you to tell you about a fault.
If you become aware that an item you own has been recalled or has any safety noticed issued against it, make sure you follow the instructions given to you by the manufacturer.
They should usually provide you with more information and a contact number on its safety notice.
In some cases, the manufacturer might ask you to return the item for a full refund or arrange for the faulty product to be collected.
You should not be charged for any recall work – such as a repair, replacement or collection of the recalled item.
Instead, return it to a Tesco store where a full refund will be given – there’s no need to bring the receipt.

A Tesco spokesperson said that the supermarket has also recalled batches of Gorgonzola cheese too, which has not yet been shared on the Food Standards Agency website.
These batches are Tesco Finest Gorogonzola Picante 175g, and its Tesco Gorgonzola 175g.
Tesco is yet to share details of which batches have been affected by the recall and why they are being pulled from shelves.
It’s not clear whether these cheeses have been affected by Listeria too. We’ll update this article when we know more.
A spokesperson said: “We’re sorry for any inconvenience caused and are asking customers to return these items to their local store for a full refund.”

When visiting the store, shoppers should be aware that Tesco has certain rules in place to toughen up on Covid.
These rules include wearing a face covering in store, otherwise you won’t be let in (unless you are exempt).
You might have to queue as well, because the shop is operating a ‘one-in, one-out’ policy to ensure social distancing.
