People in postcodes near the Wolverhampton Willenhall Express store can try it.

Orders can be placed via app or Tesco.com and there is a £5 delivery fee.

Tesco is following rivals into rapid service after soaring online growth during the pandemic.

Several other major grocery retailers use delivery operators such as Deliveroo and Uber Eats.

Chris Poad, online managing director at Tesco, said: “Customers are telling us they would welcome a 60-minute delivery option.

“We’ll use the pilot to understand how Whoosh could work best for both our customers and our colleagues.”
