THE iconic black and gold cans are about to undergo a huge change for the first time in 63 years.

Strongbow has been proud to carry one of the most famous cider logos on the market – but a new design is sure to raise some eyebrows.

The design, which remained untouched for over six decades, has become a British symbol, with many drinkers even getting it tattooed.

Fans will see the original black, gold and purple can be replaced with a variety of bright colours such as lime green, orange and yellow.

But the legendary archer figure holding a bow will continue to live on.

A new flavour, Strongbow Tropical Cider, features a mouth-watering combination of mango and pineapple and is served in a vibrant orange can.

The Cloudy Apple flavour will be sold in lime green packaging with a darker shade for the archer and bow.

Dark Fruit Cider keeps its recognised purple colour but appears a few shades lighter than the previous design.

Original Cider continues the original metallic gold logo but strips away any of the iconic black packaging.

Heineken UK cider marketing director, Rachel Holms, said: “It’s not every day that a cider so cult that people have it tattooed on their bodies entirely changes the way it looks.

“This is a huge milestone in 63 years of Strongbow, and the start of a new chapter for us. And it’s only just the beginning.

“Setting the pace for what’s to come, we’re excited to show people what else we have in store for our summer of cider.”

Strongbow Tropical Cider will be available to buy from March 6 onwards.

A 500ml bottle will cost £2.50 while 4 x 440ml cans are priced at £6.75.

It’s understood that it contains no artificial flavours, sweeteners or colours and that it’s gluten-free and vegan.
