CHECK EBAY: The days following Christmas will see unused, unwanted gifts being flogged for super-low prices while people have the time off work to list them. Check hourly to land the best deals. Gift sets and pricier buys are often first up. Plus, you may even be able to stock up on items for next year’s birthday and Christmas presents.
PAPER SAVING: The next festive season may be the last thing on your mind, but you can ease the strain on 2021’s budget by stocking up on wrapping paper, ribbons and cards. These go straight into the sale and you can save a packet by thinking ahead.
BASKET CASE: If you’re not desperate for anything in particular but have seen a few bits you like, this tip is a good one. Some sites will save your shopping basket so fill it with everything you want at the start of today. If you are logged in you are likely to be emailed reminders when you haven’t checked out and possibly discount codes. Plus, items may be marked down further over the next few days
GIFT IT BACK: If you aren’t keen on the gift card you have received, head to cardyard.co.uk where you can “sell your card back” for cash (or swap it for one you do want). A £100 John Lewis gift card currently translates to an £86 cash payout or a £90.30 credit for use on the website (towards another card). This is great as a New Year’s lump of cash, or for putting in the bank for next year’s hols.
