STAR Wars collectors are in hyperspace after a second valuable Jawa toy figure was discovered — in the same man’s loft.

The first — which had gathered dust in an attic since the 1970s — sold for £26,670 last July.

Its unnamed seller had not realised how valuable it was.

But after it blasted past its £10,000 guide price quicker than Han Solo did the Kessel Run, he decided to see what else he had in storage.

He then discovered a second example — again still on its original backing card.

Both 1978 Jawa figures were from the first Star Wars movie and are extremely rare as they wear vinyl capes — which were scrapped when film director George Lucas rejected the design in favour of cloth.

Rare US versions, made by Kenner, had been found before.

But UK figures featuring distributor Palitoy’s logo were thought to be a myth until recently.

The owner had worked for Marvel comics in the 1970s and had taken the toys home after they were used in a photoshoot for comics.

And he reckons he still has more toys from the range to sift through at home.

Jonathan Torode, of Excalibur Auctions, Herts, said: “With the success of the last figure, we had a lot of inquiries from people in various countries who had scoured garages looking to see if they had one — but we never expected another to come from the same source.”

The Jawa figure will go to auction on January 27.
