Military heroes to receive £33m funding package from Jeremy Hunt
Military heroes will receive a £33 million three-year funding package at the Budget this week to help with life on Civvy Street.
Jeremy Hunt will recognise the huge sacrifices of our servicemen and women with £20 million cash provided for housing needs – as part of the mission to help end rough sleeping.
The Veteran Capital Housing Fund will see ex-military personnel put up in either new build units or refurbished veteran and charitable housing.
The cash will be used to modernise, replace or even expand thousands of homes specifically for veterans around the country.
The government will also extend the Veterans Mobility Fund by providing an extra £3 million for those with serious physical injury from their time in service.
A further £10 million will go straight to the Office for Veterans’ Affairs to increase assistance provided to veterans over the next two years.
Jeremy Hunt said: “We all owe our veterans a huge amount of gratitude for defending democracy and keeping our country safe – and it’s only right that we provide them with all the support they need when they come home.
“This government is firmly on the side of our veterans, and this week I’ll set out a comprehensive package of policies that will solidify our enduring commitment to our ex-servicemen and women for years to come.”
