SKY customers may have missed a little-known setting on their TV boxes that gives a visual boost to your favourite shows.

At the end of last year, the firm rolled out a major upgrade to Sky Glass which included a load of new features.

One less obvious change among them is something called local dimming.

It basically transforms the black areas on screen so they’re deeper, while white bits look even brighter on your Sky TV.

But you’ll need to switch it on with Vivid mode.

Vivid mode can be found by clicking the button with three dots on your remote.

Head to Viewing Mode and from there choose Vivid.

Or, you can press the Home button and scroll down to Settings.

Either way, you should instantly notice an improvement to your TV’s picture quality.

There are several alternative modes available too.

These include Auto, Sports, Movies, Music, Entertainment and Custom.

It’s also possible to enhance speech as well.

This is ideal if you’re struggling to hear what people are saying.

It’ll make dialogue much clearer.

To turn it on, press the three dot button and select Enhance speech.

Or, press the Home button and head to Settings.

From there, choose Picture & sound, then Sound.
