THERE is nothing quite like finding a bargain in store especially when you’re not expecting it.

Sometimes those bargains will be in the most unlikely of places, one savvy shopper has shared how she managed to find a bargain gardening dining set from Farmfoods.

The shopper revealed on Facebook how she bagged a garden dining set that is usually £99.99 for just 99p.

The gleeful shopper explained that she asked staff about the Tramontina folding patio dining set which wasn’t on display in store.

In the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group, she said: “Bought this table and chairs from Farmfoods the other day for £9.99!”

“Nothing wrong with it and still boxed and brand new – they were just selling them off cheap because they were selling”

“Worth asking at the till if they have any outback as they weren’t on show!”

The savvy shopper added that she used a coupon on her shop and essentially got the dining set down to just 99p.

She said: “So with my £9 off £100 spend voucher, it was basically 99p!”

She added rival retailer The Range is selling the same set for £99.99.

If you wanted to nab the full four sets of chairs it would set you back £149.99.

The availability of deals such as this one will depend on stock in individual stores.

Sometimes only one or a few stores from a retailer will have a deal like this.

It’s worth checking ahead to see if the item you want is available and the price.

Stores like Farmfoods and The Range have store finder tools that you can use to locate your nearest store.

Shops tend to lower the prices of their summer items in the winter because they are harder to sell.

Most stores want to get rid of stock so they can make space for their autumn and winter ranges.

For example, we’ve worked out that the cheapest time to buy fans in the colder months is January.

Likewise, spring and summer are good times to buy items you might need in the winter, like heaters and blankets.

There are plenty of other stores that have sales and discounts on items even before staff are aware.

B&M has a scanner tool that allows shoppers to discover discounted items in-store with some claiming it’s saved them hundreds.

The scanner is completely free as well – you just need to download the B&M app.

Products that are typically discounted are seasonal items and old stock that B&M is trying to shift, or they’re labelled “big brands” and “big savings”.

Make sure you don’t get roped into overspending by buying things you don’t actually need.

Get friendly with staff so they are more likely to tell you about upcoming deals and bargains you can take advantage of.

It’s worth checking online and in-store for something you really want as the price might not always be the same.
