TESCO shoppers have revealed how to get XL Easter eggs from the supermarket for a bargain £2.75.

The genius trick involves stacking discounts on top of each other – but the effort means customers can save almost half price on their favourite festive treats.

And they don’t even have to wait until the holiday is over, and for the sales to start rolling in, to claim the major saving.

Any chocoholics will have to be quick to redeem though, as the money-off “hack” doesn’t last for long.

The first thing to point out is that the trick only works on the 247g Malteser Orange button chocolate Easter egg.

But the XL egg is usually £5 to buy at Tesco.

Shoppers that have a trusty Clubcard can already slash a quid off that price tag though.

Until April 18, anyone shopping online with their Clubcard account, or instore, making sure to scan the loyalty card at the checkout, can purchase the egg for just £4, thanks to the special price.

It’s free to get a Tesco Clubcard and its accompanying rewards scheme has plenty of other benefits that can be applied to your weekly shop too.

But shoppers looking to score the ultimate 50% off an Easter egg shouldn’t stop there.

On Facebook page, Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK, Tesco fans shared how a handy coupon cut out from the supermarket’s free magazine slashes another £1.25 off the price.

The coupon is from the latest edition and is only valid until April 18 too which only really gives you two days to claim the discount.

That because most Tesco shops will be closed tomorrow for Easter Sunday – the same goes for plenty of other stores too, all giving staff a rest for the holiday.

Shoppers will need to scan the physical coupon once they reach the till in-stores, or apply the code written on the coupon to their online basket, to get the money off.

But if you stack the £1.25 off on top of the Clubcard £1 saving then you’re left with only £2.75 to pay for the giant egg – saving £2.15 in the process.

The deal only applies to Maltesers buttons orange Easter eggs though, so you won’t be able to try the trick on any other chocolate treats this weekend.

Stock will be subject to availability too, and with plenty of Brits celebrating Easter this bank holiday weekend, they could quickly sell-out.

That hasn’t stopped other shoppers praising the last minute deal though.

They commented on the Facebook post.

One said: “I treated myself to this as I’ve brought everyone else eggs already.”

While another said: “Yummy.”

The ‘secret’ discount might make up for the fury some customers felt when their eggs arrived in the big Easter delivery shop broken or melted this weekend.

Meanwhile another nifty cashback trick lets you get your Easter eggs for FREE – so it might be worth taking the time if you’re after an even better chocolatey bargain.
