The slippers are currently on the website for £24.99 which is £5 off the original price.

The item is made from faux fur and has “clay bead-filled calico” inserts that you pop in the microwave for 30 seconds to heat-up.

Once the inserts have been heated up you just slide them into the slippers to keep your feet nice and warm.

The inserts are scented with lavender essential oil and the slippers also have non-slip soles.

What’s more, according to USwitch heating up these slippers would cost around a fifth of 1p heat up.

If you heated the slippers up in an 800W microwave once a day seven days a week for the recommended time of 30 seconds it would cost you 1.3p a week.

This means that over a month it would be 5.5p and for a year it would be 66p, which is a lot less than it costs to put the heating on.

Shoppers who have bought and reviewed the slippers love them with one saying they are “an economical way to keep your feet snug and warm during the colder months”.

Another fan said: “Lovely and toasty feet, these are just perfect to keep your feet warm, it’s the second pair I have got”.

Although these slippers from Lakeland look like they will do the job if you want a toasty treat for your feet, it’s always worth shopping around.

You can use sites such as Google Shopping to compare the cost of items across a number of different retailers.

We had a look to see what other retailers were offering on similar items.

Dunelm has a similar pair online that is slightly cheaper than the Lakeland ones at £12.99.

We also spotted some on the Superdrug website for £20, they are a slightly different design to the Lakeland slippers and also come in a gift box.

New Look has some very similar ones that are also scented with lavender for £24.99, and John Lewis has a pair for £33.

It all depends on what style you want and how much you would like to pay, but it does appear that there is plenty of choice out there when it comes to microwaveable slippers.

This will be good news for people worried about heating costs through the winter.

The colder weather is definitely on the way and most households have probably started to give in and put the heating on.

But if you are still looking for cheaper ways you can keep warm at home there are some other things you can do.

We pulled together a list of the hot water bottles and they come in all different shapes and sizes.

Martin Lewis also revealed a clever product that could save you money on your bills while keeping you warm.

We also reveal how you could get a cheap winter gadget for free that could slash your bills by £300.

How else can I save money on my heating bills?

Simple fixes like making sure to close the curtains when the heating is on and closing all windows can help to keep heat in your home for longer.

Also getting some draught excluders for doors and windows will help to make sure that precious heat isn’t escaping out of your doors and windows.

Just by doing these two things, you could reduce the amount of time you need to have your heating on.

Self-adhesive draught excluder tape is relatively cheap and costs from £4.99 for a roll on Amazon.

Turning your heating thermostat down by just one degree could also slash £100 off your energy bills.
