Asda has slashed the price of its tubs of Quality Street, Celebrations, Roses and Heroes to just £2.25.

Shopper can’t believe their eyes at the bargain price, and it appears to be the cheapest around.

The offer was posted to the Hot UK Deals website and quickly received a 1,489 heat rating.

This essentially means that others agree it’s a bargain.

Another wrote: “Typical. I could have done with this three weeks ago.”

Asda has cut the cost of the chocolate tubs by 50% as the chocs were previously £4.50.

Only available in stores, these simply cannot be missed – but customers are urged to be quick.

They seem to be selling fast and stock may vary from store to store.

This might mean it’s sensible to call ahead to your local shop before you head down, to avoid disappointment.

This is the cheapest we have seen festive chocolate tubs so far this year.

Of course, the treats have been reduced by this much due to the festive season coming to an end.

We had a look but couldn’t find when the tubs’ best-before date is, so make sure you have a look before you buy.

As shops and supermarkets start to clear their excess stock other deals may pop up.

Make sure you compare prices across different chains.

You can do this by using the Shopping feature on Google or Trolley.co.uk.

We had a look elsewhere to see what other offers are available this week.

Ocado shoppers can pick up a 600g tub of Celebrations for £2.75, down from £5.50, beating a number of other retailers.

The next cheapest chain is Morrisons, which is selling the same-size tub for £5, then Sainsbury’s which has it in stock for £5.50.

It’s important to note though that you might find individual offers in specific stores due to stock variation.

That’s why handy deal sites can also be a great way to keep on top of the best bargains.

The news comes as many Christmas chocs cost at least 50% more than they did last year in some of the worst inflation across grocery items, research by Which? has found.

Despite supermarket food and drink inflation in general slowing to 8.3% in November, price rises on chocolate as a food category were almost twice as much at 15.3%, according to the watchdog.

This has been put down mainly to rising costs of key ingredients, like cocoa and sugar.

Supply issues and poor production have hit both of these in the last 12 months.

Among the treats affected are Quality Street, Matchmakers, Green & Blacks and Cadbury chocs.

It’s important to note that Which?’s research does not include loyalty prices or special offers though.
