One savvy shopper spotted a 450ml bottle of Sainsbury’s own brand washing up liquid for 50p.

It comes in four different scents, including Lemon, Cherry Blossom, Original and Sensitive.

The shopper wrote to Facebook: “Thought I’d give Sainsbury’s washing up liquid a go . I’ve always been a Fairy girl and gotta say this one wins.”

Others in the comments were also excited, with one writing: “I use this! It’s good”.

Another said: “It’s good, I always use it.”

And a third praised: “Have started to buy shops’ own brand – Fairy just isn’t as good these days.”

A 383ml bottle of Original Fairy Liquid from Sainsbury’s, in comparison, costs £1.

And a 450ml bottle would set you back £3.

Remember to add on delivery charges as well if you’re ordering online.

You can also check prices elsewhere in case you miss something similar that’s cheaper.

For example, Trolley.co.uk helps track down prices from main supermarkets so you know where to go for the best deal.

We found a 450ml bottle of Spiced Apple washing up liquid from Morrisons for 75p, which is also cheaper than Fairy.

Morrisons sells 383ml pf Fairy for £1.30 or 660ml for £3.50 – we couldn’t find the 450ml one online.

If you’re visiting in stores, remember you can search your nearest branch on the supermarket store locator on each website.

Asda, however, sells a 500ml bottle of own brand liquid for 55p – which might be worth your while.

It also comes in several scents which you can browse online.

The supermarket charges £1 for 383ml of Fairy and £2 – £1 down from Sainsbury’s – for 450ml.

In other Asda news, shoppers have been rushing to purchase an 80p winter essential from stores.
