FOR MOST, Christmas was over the second they started glamming up for New Year’s Eve and now that bleak January is here it’s back to business as usual.

But a keen few will want to cling onto the festive season a little longer, or if nothing else, they’re not ready to rush into yet another holiday.

But shoppers in Asda have spotted a tell-tale sign that the supermarket and others have already forgotten about Santa and his reindeers, and are instead gearing up for the next big event on the calendar.

Shared on Facebook page Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group, one shopper said: “Here’s a sign that Christmas is over,” as she posted a picture of a £1 chocolate bar Asda had released on sale.

The Dairy Milk bar the shopper had added to their trolley was a new addition in Cadbury’s line-up of flavours.

The confectionary company has brought out numerous flavours in the past including Winter Gingerbread for Christmas before, or Cadbury White which you could pick up no matter the season.

But the latest release is Hot Cross Bun flavoured – just in time for Easter.

And by just in time, it’s four months early.

Easter Sunday this year falls on April 17, so while many Brits still haven’t made their way through piles of chocolate coins that filled this stockings just over a week ago, the shops are already prepared for a holiday that’s months away.

The 110g bar has raisins and a cinnamon crunch, and on the packaging Peter Rabbit even makes an appearance.

He’s come with a basket of Easter eggs too, so there’s no denying the chocolate is meant for the season.

But the sweet treat stirred up a touch of controversy with the online community as they officially declared Christmas to be through, now that the supermarket was promoting Easter goods.

It meant the Facebook post racked up 241 comments as they each weighed in on the early advertisement.

One said: I saw these the other day in Poundland. Christmas is defo over, bring on Easter.”

Another said: “That’s it, the Easter bunny is out.”

Some weren’t as surprised to see the Springtime snacks popping up in the shops though, as one other said: “These have been on sale way before Christmas in B&M.”

But it’s not just the chocolate bar that’s causing controversy for some shoppers, as other Easter staples begin to line the shelves in some stores too.

One said: “Tesco today already had easter eggs out.”

One even said: “I work in a supermarket and I was putting Easter stuff out on Christmas Eve.”

While another said: “Try working in retail, Christmas ended in November when the cream eggs came in.”

They weren’t wrong either, as baffled shoppers had already found both easter eggs and real hot cross buns on sale in the supermarket just days after the holiday.

One man even found the lines between the two seasons of festivity had completely blurred when he uncovered that behind a Santa wrapped Cadbury chocolate figure was, in fact, an obvious Easter bunny mould.

He argued the company had skipped the rebrand of the season all together and stuck a Christmas look on a previous Easter product.
