SHOPPERS are rushing out to snap up a pair of Lidl’s viral trainers which cost just £15 – but you’ll have to be quick.
In 2021 the low-cost supermarket’s collection flew off the shelves and bargain hunters grabbed shoes and clothes branded in the store’s colours.
Their trainers, which cost £12.99 were a surprise hit and stores around the country quickly sold out.
They were so popular they soon appeared on sites such as eBay where they were flogged for as much as £1,000.
Now, Lidl has launched a brand new collection – including a rebrand of the trainers which sold out last time.
The trainers are now white with hints of Lidl’s logo colours – red, blue and yellow and now retail for £14.99, £2 more than last time.
In a bid to get a pair one shopper went to her local Lidl branch in Aberdeen and made sure she was there when it opened at 8am.
She rushed to the Middle Aisle and was pleased to find there was a large amount of stock in.
However, she wasn’t so pleased when she couldn’t find the size that fitted her.
She said in the Daily Record: “Despite the amount of stock in, I was genuinely disappointed to find that there were either no ladies sizes, or even smaller sizes – well, not that I could find.

“Despite being labelled as ‘Ladies Lidl Trainers’ on the shelf, I found that the vast majority of the pile of trainers were mens size 9s, and I even tried rummaging to the bottom of the pile, but no luck.
“Considering I wear a ladies size 7, I think even I would have struggled to wear them.”
Anyone who might not be able to get the trainers can always console themselves by picking up some bargains from their new-look Lidl x Lidl 2023 merch range.
In keeping with the trainers the new collection is more subtle and paired-back – and prices start at just £1.99.
There are also t-shirts for adults and kids in either black or white, which spell out Lidl down the side.
Shoppers can also pick up sliders for £4.99 and £1.99 socks that say Lidl too.
If you want to show your loyalty to Lidl, you’ll have to be quick before it flies off shelves.
Lidl also does beachwear, with a pair of mens swim shorts costing £5.99 and mini beach balls for £2.99 and both feature the company’s logo.
If wearing Lidl-branded trainers isn’t your thing, you could get yourself some Louis Vuitton trainers – although they will cost you significantly more.
The French fashion house has its own colourful ones priced at £960.
Louis Vuitton said each of its pairs takes seven hours to hand-stitch.
Trainers nowadays are available in all shapes and sizes and with price tags to match all wallets.
Here are just some of the wide variety available.
Superga’s Classic Low-Top trainers – a favourite with the Princess of Wales – retail between £36.60 to £47.
Levi’s Tijuana sneakers are priced at £23.
While Veja’s Campo leather sneakers are a bit more expensive at £130 a pair.
