ComparetheMarket offers customers who purchase certain insurance and more, various deals and rewards.

Sometimes this can be from as small as a plush toy of the brand’s meerkat mascots, or it can be the offer of 2for1 cinema tickets on a Tuesday or Wednesday for a whole year.

The average price of a seat in front of the big screen cost around £6.75 in 2020 according to Statista.

The deal is therefore a good way to half those costs over a year, especially if you have a mate dying to tag along to the movies with you.

You can also get the deal by using the site’s switching service, or applying for any other type of financial product.

Although, ComparetheMarket did temporarily turn off its energy switching service last month amid the chaos of the energy crisis and subsequent fall of now 10 energy suppliers.

It’s back online now though, and you can use it plus car, motorcycle, home, van, pet, landlord, life, home or travel insurance, taking out a credit card or loan, or switching TV or broadband supplier, to claim the movies deal.

Brits are currently facing rocketing costs across energy and household bills, so any of those products can be a good way to lower costs, and cashing in on the freebies and rewards is a great bonus too.

But the MoneySavingTeam warns that you shouldn’t choose a deal on the site just because of the Meerkat Movies discount.

Instead you should have a shop around first and find the best deal for you, you can use other comparison sites like Uswitch and GoCompare to get a better idea too.

How do I get 2for1 tickets by spending just over £1?

MoneySavingExpert revealed that buying one night’s UK travel insurance for one person could mean you qualify for the year-long 2for1 deal.

The team posted the bargain find on the MoneySavingExert deal hunters’ blog and shared the news on Martin’s own Twitter account last night.

The money saving team checked last Friday and found that the cheapest single-trip travel insurance policy was only £1.01.

It’s the cheapest product on ComparetheMarket’s site that means you qualify for Meerkat Movies according to MoneySavingExpert’s latest research.

It’s also over £5 cheaper than the average cinema ticket price we found, so with just one use throughout the year long deal you’d save at least that much.

You don’t have to be travelling to buy it, but if it’s cheap enough you would have to think of the spend as being your purchase for the movies deal, but you would ultimately be buying a product you don’t need.

If you do need just a day’s worth of travel insurance then you won’t be wasting any money at all, and the deal works out to be a massive bargain bonus.

It’s not the only trick the MoneySavingExpert team has revealed to help consumers get the best bargains, as it’s also shared how you can get freebies on your birthday.

You can also get free food using cashback sites according to the money saving guru, Martin, himself.
