ALDI fans are going wild for a bargain that can help cut the food shop bill and save money on eating out.

Fans of the discounter can recreate their favourite Subway sandwich with a dupe for just 95p per pack.

The discount retailer is offering cheese and herb, wholegrain, and Italian-style rolls in a pack of four – perfect for a “fakeaway” family dinner.

If you want to have a go at making the cheap takeaway alternative, you can head to your local Aldi store or place an online order.

But you’d have to be quick – shoppers have been raving about how good the rolls are.

Foodies have been going wild for the find on Facebook group Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK.

In a post, they said: “Aldi doing buns similar to Subway for 95p for a pack of 4. Even called them Metro subs.

“Great for Fakeaway Subways in the air fryer (leave open to cook then fold close when finished 200 for 5mins).”

Other bargain hunters were also thrilled about the cheap find.

One said: “Look so nice! I’ve made the meatball ones before everyone loved them!”

Shoppers can save money by recreating Subway’s BMT at home by doing their food shop in Aldi.

As well as the 95p Metro rolls, you can also grab:

  • Pepperoni – 85p
  • Mild Cheddar Slices – £1.19
  • Ham – 79p
  • Salami – 99p
  • Iceberg lettuce – 58p

Altogether, the ingredients will cost £5.35, and you can get more than one serving out of them.

In comparison, Subway charge £5.89 for one Footlong BMT – so recreating the sandwich at home will be much cheaper.

Other retailers also offer similar alternatives to the popular rolls.

Tesco sells a pack of four sub rolls for £1.05 – but they are only available as white bread, compared to Aldi’s variety of flavours.

Sainsbury‘s Multiseed Vienna Rolls are another good find, coming in a pack of four for 90p.

And you can get creative with your “fakeaway” – instead of Subway’s BMT, you can try making their Meatballer, by swapping the pepperoni and ham for meatballs.

Aldi’s Metro rolls are not the only popular dupe the retailer offers.

Fans of the supermarkets can buy a Le Creuset dupe for £285 less than the original.

Or if you’re already prepping for Christmas, you could check out their range of mince pies for just 18p per pie.

With the rising cost of food, it’s important to shop around to make sure you get the best value for your money.
