CHRISTMAS greetings cards are a lovely way to let people know you are thinking of them.

But if you have loads to send — and lots of stamps to buy — it could burn a big hole in your wallet.

Luckily, there are a host of easy ways to cut costs . . .

BULK UP: Asda is doing three for £3 on cards that usually cost £1.50 each.

SAVE: £1.50 when buying three

BUMPER CARDS: Slash costs with a multi-pack. A bundle of 50 cards costs just £1.99 at the Card Factory — an absolute steal.

EASY DOES IT: Sending a free online e-card is a simple way to save — plus it is better for the environment. There is lots of choice at friendsoftheearth.co.uk.

TREEMENDOUS: With the Seed Card Company, every time you buy a card, a tree will be planted on your behalf. Plus, if you plant the card, it will grow into beautiful wildflowers. Get ten cards for the price of eight with code GETTWOFREE at theseedcardcompany.com.

SAVE: £7.90

GET CRAFTY: You could always make your own cards. Try the range of cheap crafting goodies at The Works.

STAMP DOWN COSTS: Be an early bird and cut the price of posting by sending your cards second class. Get them in the postbox by December 18 and you can use stamps costing 66p. Miss this cut-off and you will have to buy first-class stamps costing 85p.

SAVE: 19p per stamp

DO YOUR BIT: Share the festive cheer by choosing charity cards. I love the grumpy-looking cat on the cards for Sightsavers, in partnership with Paperchase. A pack of eight costs £4.50, with 50p going to the charity. Save by taking advantage of the three-for-two offer.

SAVE: £4.50 if you buy three packs
