STAMP DOWN COSTS: Be an early bird and cut the price of posting by sending your cards second class. Get them in the postbox by December 18 and you can use stamps costing 66p. Miss this cut-off and you will have to buy first-class stamps costing 85p.

DO YOUR BIT: Share the festive cheer by choosing charity cards. I love the grumpy-looking cat on the cards for Sightsavers, in partnership with Paperchase. A pack of eight costs £4.50, with 50p going to the charity. Save by taking advantage of the three-for-two offer.
