Federal Reserve governor Lael Brainard is poised to win confirmation as the central bank’s vice chairwoman after clearing a procedural Senate hurdle with bipartisan support on Monday evening.

Eight Republicans joined 46 senators who caucus with the Democrats in advancing the nomination of Ms. Brainard on Monday. A Senate confirmation vote is scheduled for 2:15 p.m. ET on Tuesday.
