This is because a number of retailers opt to close store shutters and adjust opening hours during the festive season, to allow staff a little extra time to celebrate with family and friends.

Is Screwfix open over the Christmas holidays?

Across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, Screwfix stores will be open prior to Christmas Day.

Those hoping to bag a DIY essential or two can do so until Christmas Eve.

But remember, opening and closing times may vary depending on the location of the store, so it’s always advised to check ahead, whether you use the Screwfix online store locator tool or phone your local store ahead of time.

All Screwfix stores will close doors on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, before re-opening once more on December 27.

After Christmas, shoppers can visit Screwfix stores and expect service as usual until December 31.

All Screwfix stores will close once again on New Year’s Day, with stores in Scotland also remaining closed on January 2.

Thousands of shops are set to close for up to three days over Christmas to give staff more time to spend with their families.

Waitrose & Partners will close all 364 stores for two days at Christmas to give staff time to spend with family and friends.

All the supermarkets will be closed on both Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

From December 27 and New Year’s Eve, the majority of shops will trade normal hours.

Lidl will also close all of its shops on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

Popular retailer Home Bargains will also be closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, as well as New Year’s Day.
