SAINSBURY’S shoppers have just hours left to claim free cash to spend in stores this Christmas.

The supermarket’s seasonal saving scheme closes at the end of the day TODAY.

Sainsbury’s Christmas Club Card scheme offers a cash bonus when you load up with money.

You can save money onto the card from January until November 1, helping you spread the cost of Christmas.

The more you save the bigger the bonus and you need at least £50 on there to get anything at all.

The bonus is worth 5% for every £50 you save, so the minimum you’ll get is £2.50.

But if you save £500 you’ll get a bonus worth £25, which is the maximum you can get.

You get the bonus for each £50 you have loaded on the card and it will be added to the card by the end of November.

And it’s not just Sainsbury’s where you can use the cash you’ve saved and bonus.

You can also spend the Christmas Club Card at Argos because it’s owned by the same company, either online or in stores.

That means you could use the cash to buy your Christmas food shop or to get gifts – Argos is till running its half price toy sale if you’re looking to stuff stockings.

It’s worth noting that you shouldn’t start spending the money you have saved on a card until November 2, otherwise you won’t qualify for the bonus cash.

You also won’t be able to buy certain items with the card, including tobacco products, stamps, lottery tickets, gift cards and petrol.

You can check the full terms and conditions of the scheme on the Sainsbury’s website.

To get a Sainsbury’s Christmas Club Card you can pick them up in stores and they should be in the same area you get gift cards.

You can find your nearest Sainsbury’s location using the supermarket’s store finder tool.

You can add cash to the card at Sainsbury’s stores, either at the self-checkout or main tills, but you can’t add cash in Argos stores.

You can add up to £1,975 in total, but you’ll only get the bonus on up to £500.

You’ll also need to register your card, and this is where you’ll be able to see the bonus when it’s added.

There’s still time to get a card and add cash now to qualify for the bonus – as long as you do it by the end of the day.

In a Christmas Club Card FAQs (frequently asked questions) section on its website Sainsbury’s says: “You can add the value onto your card at any time, as long as the balance is on your card until the end of the day on November 1.”

Martin Lewis previously urged shoppers to cash in with Tesco’s Christmas saving scheme which offers a similar bonus, though it has now closed.

Morrisons’ savings scheme for the festive season closed yesterday (October 31).

You can still join other supermarket saving schemes though, including Asda, Iceland and Co-op.
